It has only been four weeks since I first started working with an aspiring Chartered Surveyor, and this week they are submitting their AssocRICS application ahead of the 13 January deadline.
When we first met in early December, we talked about their vision for setting up and growing their surveying business. Over the past month, they have told me our conversations made them rethink their approach—and the progress they made is good. I did not expect to see such an impact, and it was a real surprise.
I have seen the same with another small business owner—young but very mature—who implemented everything we discussed before the seasonal break and messaged me on the first day back with an update.
To support aspiring Chartered Surveyors, I have put together a practical guide on rising damp, covering the different types and how to diagnose them. This reflects what I learned from a recent study I marked: learning is always a two-way process between the mentor and candidate.
